MTN Semi-Finals: Orlando Pirates Drawn Against PSL Champions
The MTN8 semi-finals are almost here, and Orlando Pirates are set to face a formidable team for the championship.
After Pirates beat Polokwane City 2-0 in the quarter-finals last Saturday, 2 August, a draw took place on Sunday, 3 August, to determine whom they will battle in the final.
As a result of the draw, the Buccaneers are booked to face reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, who thrashed Richards Bay 4-0 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Sekhukhune United – who defeated TS Galaxy 3-2 on Saturday – will see action against Sunday’s other semi-final winner, Stellenbosch FC, following the latter’s 3-2 victory over AmaZulu FC.
According to one local soccer outlet, “both semi-final ties will consist of two legs, played on a home-and-away basis. The first-leg of the MTN8 semi-finals will take place on the weekend of 16/17 August. The second-leg will be staged on 23/24 August.”
Details regarding the venues and kick-off times will be confirmed by the PSL in due course.
